What is text messaging?

What is a shortcode?

A shortcode is a 5 or 6 digit number used to send and receive SMS and MMS messages. Shortcodes are approved and monitored by cellular providers in an attempt to prevent phone spam.
Do I need to obtain a shortcode to start mobile messaging?

NO. Aiyta provides a shared shortcode environment, in which each customer uses unique keywords on the same short code. You still have the powerful two-way messaging capabilities using our Interactive Replies feature without the added cost of paying for a shortcode. Aiyta also provides personalized and dedicated shortcodes at additional cost, depending on the country in which the shortcode will be used.
What does it mean to Opt-In to a mobile campaign?

To Opt-In is to join a list. This can be done by sending a text message containing your KEYWORD to SHORTCODE, or by entering your mobile number into a web-based form. This action signifies that a customer has given you permission to send them a message.

What does it mean to Opt-Out of a mobile campaign?

A subscriber Opts-Out when they quit your list. Users can do this quickly and simply by replying to any text message you send them with the word STOP. Opt out instructions are text Stop KEYWORD to SHORTCODE.

What cellular carriers does Aiyta support?

Aiyta currently has been provisioned and is available on all major cellular networks in the Bahamas, Canada, USA, and UK.

Do I still need to find a Mobile Marketer or Aggregator?
All of the tools needed to create unique mobile campaigns in minutes are provided for. As an SMS Aggregator, Aiyta provides direct two-way connections to all major carriers in the countries where the mobile marketing service is available. Additionally, mobile marketers charge a hefty premium for preparing mobile campaigns that can be created in 5 minutes with Aiyta’s mobile marketing service. What software/hardware do I need?

How long does it take before subscribers receive messages I send out?

Messages are sent instantly within 1-2 minutes of you sending a message. If a customer’s phone is turned off or is in an area without coverage (such as inside an elevator), the carrier holds the message and delivers it as soon as the customer re-enters a coverage area.

What is the limit of messages I can send with Aiyta’s mobile marketing service?

There is no limit of how many messages you can send using our service.

How much does Aiyta’s mobile marketing service cost?

Will my customers need to have a smart phone to participate in the mobile marketing campaigns?

No, 99% of all cell phones on the market today feature SMS text message functionality. Smartphone users however, will have the ability to browse your custom webpages for html content and offers.

How do I get my contacts into the Aiyta’s mobile marketing software?

Aiyta has designed a simple online process for uploading existing contacts. Use the sample .CSV file provided to properly format your existing contacts. The uploader will sort out invalid records and duplicates while updating records that have already been added.

What types of mobile campaigns can I create with your service?

It supports all types of mobile campaigns. Select a one-time message or subscription campaign. Most messages are text-based (SMS) messages no longer than 160-characters. Each message can have up to 6 Interactive Replies that can be created to increase interaction and personalization for your mobile campaign. Aiyta’s mobile marketing service also supports content mobile campaigns such as ringtones, wallpapers, and mobile video.

What are Interactive Replies?

The key to a successful mobile campaign is to engage your users in interactive and personalized messaging content. The patent-pending software allows mobile campaigns to have up to 6 Interactive Replies that stimulate user interactivity and personalization. Create up to 6 personalized messages that users can interact back and forth with.

Aren’t there strict rules and guidelines for mobile messaging campaigns?

YES, the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has developed best practices guidelines for mobile messaging campaigns. All Aiyta-based campaigns are pre-programmed to adhere to ALL Mobile Marketing Association guidelines for Best Practices. Once you decide on the type of mobile campaign, Aiyta’s messaging software will guide you through the proper process. Every message sent to an Opt-in user will automatically contain the proper message footer (eg. Txt STOP 2 Quit. Std rates apply).

Will I be able to restrict the amount of opt-ins or survey responses that a user sends in via SMS text message over a certain time period?

Yes, clients can configure how many opt-ins they will allow over a customized time frame from a unique mobile phone number.

Isn’t Facebook and Twitter just as simple and effective as SMS Text Message marketing?

There is no denying the current popularity of Social Networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter, but in order for you to interact or promote your business via Facebook or Twitter, you first have to rely on your customers to complete several steps before they are available to you to promote your business to them. Aiyta’s mobile marketing service simply requires a single opt-in whether it’s answering a customer comment card or simply texting in to receive a coupon or discount offer. What is SMS/MMS aggregation?

SMS/MMS aggregation allows for the establishment of direct SMS/MMS connections to the major wireless carriers and provides a method by which customers' text messages can be sent and received using a single interface.

What features does Aiyta’s routes support?

Dynamic sender ID, delivery reports, concatenated messages, binary, flash, and unicode messages.

Are there any other options?

Aiyta also offer routes to some destinations with reduced features. For example, a fixed sender ID / originator service can be offered with the absence of delivery reports at much a comparatively much reduced rate, which is ideal for marketing initiatives where the response rate is a higher priority than the delivery rate.

How many operators do your routes have I need access to?

Aiyta’s routes covers over 800 operators worldwide. If there are operators that you need to have access to, feel free to contact a company representative.

How do I test the quality of your routes?

How quickly will my messages be delivered?

The average time taken is less than few seconds! However sometimes congestion in networks may cause an unavoidable delay.

Do you provide detailed reports about SMS message sent?

Each text message sent can be tracked, from submission to delivery, by viewing its unique Delivery Report. The Delivery Report displays details of the date and time of message submission, destination number, sender ID, delivery status, price and message ID of all sent messages.

I would like a service that allows me to send and receive messages, do you provide this and short codes?

YES. Aiyta offers mobile SMS origination and termination services. Contact a company representative for more information

Does Aiyta offer API to query balance and delivery status?

YES. You can receive delivery status to your script over HTTP or over SMPP API. Balance details are available at any time in the customer SMS Communications Center, as well as via email.

What type of message encodings do you support?
Aiyta SMS services support the following encodings:

  • GSM 7-bit

  • ISO-8859-1 Unicode

A list of characters supported by both GSM and ISO-8859-1 with appropriate values for each can be found on the following link The 7 bit default alphabet.

What is the validity period of messages sent?

Validity period of message may differ. It depends on the destination path and far-end SMSC that will actually deliver the message. Some of the operators have SMSC with a minimum validity period of 24 hours, while other have a maximum validity period of 72 hours. The minimum of 24 hours should be considered as the default value.

How long is an SMS valid before it gets status Undeliverable?

It may take up to 72 hours to declare message undeliverable, it depends on end SMSC - Network Operator.

How long do text messages stay live on your system?

Immediately after messages are received they are being routed through to the end operator. Once the operator respond with delivery report it is being immediately dispatched to the client.

Which special characters are supported?

All characters that are defined in GSM standards.

*Note that the delivery path might support some other characters, especially if they are some very rare ones.

How many messages per second can I send?

It all depends on your needs. For example, usually you have the ability to send up to 100 messages per second, if you have a good quality broadband Internet connection.

Do you support Concatenated messages?

YES. Aiyta supports concatenated messages (long messages). Concatenated messages can be composed as one, and are split up into smaller messages to send over the network. Maximum lengths vary, from about 300 characters to over 1,000, depending on the phone. Please be aware that concatenated messages are handset dependent.

What SMPP commands you do support?

Aiyta SMS services support the following SMPP v3.4 commands:
  • bind_transmitter

  • bind_tranciever

  • bind_receiver

  • submit_sm

  • delivery_sm

  • unbind

These sets are the basic needs for sending and receiving text message. Additional commands will be supported at a later date.

How fast does Aiyta resolve an issue?

Aiyta’s dedicated, highly skilled technical support team are trained to understand customer issues and requirements so that issues are resolved within a 2 hour period.

Website hosting is a service that allows for the upload and storage of HTML documents and related files on a web server to be made available on the Internet for viewing by the public.

Do I need technical knowledge to host a website?
Aiyta has created web hosting services that is accessible for everyone. The control panel allows for easy management of domains and web hosting, all in one place. The FTP feature makes it simple to upload website contents. If you have never used web hosting before, Aiyta’s support team is available to provide assistance.

How long does it take to set up web hosting?

Setting up web hosting is quick and easy. It takes less than an hour to configure and activate a web hosting account.

What do I get with web hosting from Aiyta?

While Aiyta offers a variety of web hosting packages, all packages include a set allocation of disk space, unlimited bandwidth, FTP access, databases, marketing tools, and friendly customer support.

Can any registered domain name be associated with a website hosted by Aiyta?

Linux and Windows are two different operating systems. The operating system that you use on your computer should not determine your choice.

Can I host multiple websites?

Yes, you can host multiple websites, but you will need to setup a separate website hosting plan for each website.

How can I transfer my website from another host to Aiyta hosting?

Transferring your website from another host can seem like a daunting process, but we're here to make the move quick and easy. First, make a backup copy of your entire website by downloading all files via your FTP program. Once your new hosting account is setup with Aiyta, you can then FTP your files into your new account. You will also need to update your domain name DNS servers so that they point to your new website location.

Can I track how many people visit my website?

YES. With your website hosting plan, you will have access to in-depth website statistics including daily visitors, monthly visitors, website referrers, search engine visitors, plus much more. Stats also include graphical charts, making it easy for you to see how you are doing with a quick glance.

Can I use CGI on my website?

What is the difference between Email Forwarding and Email Hosting?

With Email Forwarding, email messages are forwarded to an existing email account, whereas Email Hosting stores email to domain mail boxes and uses allocated mail storage size.

Is there a limit on the amount of mail that I can forward?

There is no limit.

What email address can I forward email to?

You can forward your email to any address, at any domain, anywhere in the world.

Does Aiyta’s email hosting service provide spam filtering?

YES. Aiyta’s standard spam filtering performs a check against a global list of known email spammers, and blocks flagged emails from reaching your inbox. This service is included in Email Hosting packages. Custom spam rules and virus scanning can be configured in the email hosting settings.

Can I connect my email account via POP and IMAP?

Yes, Aiyta email services allow both POP and IMAP access.

What is the difference between POP3 and IMAP?

POP3 and IMAP are two different protocols (methods) used to access email.

Of the two, IMAP is the better option - and the recommended option - when you need to check your emails from multiple devices, such as a work laptop, a home computer, or a tablet, smartphone, or other mobile device. Tap into your synced (updated) account from any device with IMAP.

POP3 downloads email from a server to a single computer, then deletes it from the server. Because your messages get downloaded to a single computer or device and then deleted from the server, it can appear that mail is missing or disappearing from your Inbox if you try to check your mail from a different computer.

What is DNS Hosting?

DNS is the acronym for domain name servers, and refers to the servers that confirm where your domain is located. Name servers are the routers that connect visitors with your domain name, and from there to your web site, email, and so on. In many cases, a domain is registered at the same registrar that hosts its DNS, but that’s not always the case. If your domain is registered elsewhere but you want to use our products or services, you can either transfer the domain to us or leave it at the current registrar and use our DNS hosting.

Why should I purchase DNS Hosting?

Purchase DNS hosting if you want to use Aiyta services but your domain is registered somewhere else, and you do not want to (or cannot) transfer it here.

What is SSL?

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a protocol for enabling data encryption on the Internet and for helping web site users confirm the owner of the web site. SSL is most commonly used to protect communications between web browsers and servers. However, it is increasingly used for server to server communications and for web-based applications.

What is an SSL Certificate?

SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization's details. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol (over port 443) and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser.

How long does enrollment take and how soon will I be able to secure my site?

An SSL certificate may be issued within an hour of submitting your enrollment information as long as the information is correct and the authorized administrator responds promptly to the confirmation email.

What is encryption and why are there different levels?

Encryption is a mathematical process of coding and decoding information. The number of bits (40-bit, 56-bit, 128-bit, 256-bit) tells you the size of the key. Like a longer password, a larger key has more possible combinations. When an encrypted session is established, the encryption level is determined by the capability of the web browser, SSL certificate, web server, and client computer operating system.

How do web site visitors know if a web site is using SSL?

When a browser connects to a secure site it retrieves the site's SSL certificate and checks that it has not expired, that it has been issued by a Certificate Authority the browser trusts and that it is being used by the web site for which it has been issued. If it fails on any one of these checks the browser will display a warning to the end user. If it succeeds, several security indicators are built into modern browsers to indicate that SSL is enabled.

  • The beginning of the URL or web address changes from http:// to https://
  • A padlock on the browser window changes from open to closed
  • The address bar will turn green and display the name of the web site owner when connecting to a web site protected by an Extended Validation SSL certificate.
  • In addition, a trust mark may be added to web pages on a secure site.

What does browser recognition mean?

When a browser or operating system encounters an SSL certificate, it checks to make sure that the certificate is valid and trusted. An SSL certificate is trusted if it is signed by a “trusted” or pre-installed root certificate. If a browser that does not contain the root CA certificate used to issue the SSL certificate, a security warning will alert them.

What is a certificate signing request or CSR?

A CSR is a public key that you generate on your server according to your server software instructions. (If you do not have access to your server, your web host or Internet service provider will generate it for you.) The CSR is required during the SSL certificate enrollment process because it validates the specific information about your web server and your organization.

What is a public/private key pair?

SSL uses unique cryptographic key pairs: each key pair consists of a secret private key and a related public key. Information encrypted with a public key can only be decrypted with the corresponding private key, and vice-versa.

How long does it take to develop and launch a website?

Typically, website development can range from a few weeks for a small, simple 5-page non-responsive website to more than 6 months for a larger, more complexed website.

Do you offer simple, template based or complex custom web design and development?

BOTH. Aiyta does not take a cookie cutter approach to website development, and provides both simple template based and custom web design services based on customer requirements and budget.

Do you have web designers and developers on staff?

YES. Aiyta a talented team of designers and developer who know how to design for the web and develop outstanding websites. They focus on creating the look that's right for the website, while keeping in mind the end user-experience, as well. Will I have a say in the graphic design process?

What is responsive web design?

Responsive web design (RWD) is a web design approach aimed at crafting sites to provide an optimal viewing experience - easy reading and simple, intuitive navigation with a minimum amount of resizing, panning, and scrolling by a site visitor - across a wide range of mobile devices, as well as traditional desktop computers.

Do you offer responsive design solutions?

YES. In the ever evolving tech-based world, desktop-only sites are quickly becoming a thing of the past on the web. The number of mobile users increases substantially every year. What kind of experience does your current site provide to someone viewing your site on their iPhone? Responsive web design is not a trend.
